The Department of General Surgery is affiliated with the Northern Ontario School of Medicine and supports a fully accrediated Residency Program. Currently, there are 9 active general surgery residents. 

 

Electives

 

Elective students and residents are welcomed at the Northern Ontario School of Medicine and at Health Sciences North. Duration of electives range from 1 to 3 months. Students and residents can tailor their experiences towards future career goals. We offer a wide variety of bread and butter general surgery cases as well as exposure to complex pancreatic resections with vascular reconstruction. On call is busy; however, the learning is invaluable.
